The Inchelium Language & Culture Association (ILCA)or ncáʔliwm nqəlʷcniłxʷ is a community-focused organization dedicated to the revitalization of the N̓səl̓xcin̓ dialect of the Salish Language. As part of our commitment to our community we prioritize cultural preservation, and community connection.
Our work centers on creating opportunities for people to learn N̓səl̓xcin̓, reconnect with cultural traditions, and participate in meaningful community events that strengthen identity and heritage.
Language carries the knowledge, history, and teachings of generations. When language is preserved and practiced, culture continues to thrive. ILCA exists to help ensure that our language and traditions are passed on to future generations through learning, community engagement, and cultural education.
Through our programs and initiatives, ILCA brings together language learners, cultural practitioners, elders, and community members who share a commitment to protecting and celebrating Indigenous knowledge.
ILCA’s mission is to support Indigenous language learning and cultural revitalization by creating programs, resources, and community spaces where people can reconnect with their language, traditions, and heritage.
We believe language learning is an essential part of cultural preservation. By supporting Indigenous language education and encouraging participation in cultural traditions, we help ensure that these teachings continue to grow and evolve for future generations.
Our vision is to see thriving communities where Indigenous languages are spoken confidently, cultural traditions are honored, and knowledge is shared across generations.
We strive to create a network where learners, educators, elders, and community leaders collaborate to protect and celebrate Indigenous culture through language, ceremony, and community gatherings.
