Revitalizing Language. Reclaiming Culture. Building Community.

Preserving the Nselxcin dialect and fostering Indigenous cultural strength through education, storytelling, and community traditions.

About Us

Founded in 2011, the Inchelium Language & Culture Association (ILCA) is dedicated to breathing new life into the Nselxcin dialect and the cultural traditions of our community.

Our mission is to nurture new speakers and educators, ensuring that the wisdom of our elders and the beauty of our language are passed down for generations.

What We Do

Language Classes and Programs

We offer Nselxcin language classes and immersive programs to cultivate new speakers and teachers within our community.

Cultural Events

Each year, we host the Captikwl Night, where elders share Coyote and Creation stories, and we lead the Upper Columbia River Canoe Journey and Salmon Ceremony—events that honor our heritage and strengthen our bonds.

Community Outreach

ILCA is deeply rooted in community-driven initiatives, inviting volunteers to join us in event coordination, outreach, and cultural stewardship.

Why it Matters

With over 2,500 endangered languages worldwide and only 23 Salish languages remaining, every effort to revitalize and sustain our mother tongue is a step toward cultural sovereignty and collective healing.

Get Involved

Whether you’re a community member, ally, or supporter, your involvement makes a difference. Volunteer, attend events, or contribute to our projects—each action helps protect and grow our language and culture.
